Opioid Treatment Program (OTP)
Our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) located in Watertown, NY is a certified and accredited program that provides screenings, assessments, evaluations, and approved medications such as Methadone, Suboxone, Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, Vivitrol, and other Medication Assisted Therapy options to treat individuals with substance use disorders and opioid use disorders, as well as help prevent opioid overdose. These FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved Medication Assisted Therapies are dispensed and administered on-site, with the possible opportunity for approved take-home privileges over time.
Methadone, Suboxone, Buprenorphine, and Naltrexone are used to treat opioid dependence and addiction to short-acting opioids such as heroin, morphine, and codeine, as well as semi-synthetic opioids like oxycodone and hydrocodone. Individuals may safely take medications for opioid use disorder for months, years, several years, or even a lifetime. Plans to stop a medication must always be discussed with a doctor.
Use of Methadone or Buprenorphine along with alcohol or types of anxiety treatment medications called benzodiazepine (i.e. Klonopin, Xanax) can be dangerous.
Both Methadone and Buprenorphine are used during pregnancy and breastfeeding; however, pregnant or breastfeeding women must inform their treatment provider before taking or stopping any medication for an opioid use disorder. Although it is always dangerous to use alcohol and/or illicit (non-prescribed or illegal) opioids and other drugs during pregnancy, withdrawal from any opioid during pregnancy can lead to serious consequences including premature labor, fetal distress, and miscarriage.
Individuals receiving these medications may also receive individual, group, and/or family counseling along with other behavioral therapies by a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on the unique needs of each individual served. Peer services, care management, and medication management services are also available as needed.
Acamprosate, and Naltrexone are the most common drugs used to treat alcohol use disorder. None of these drugs provide a cure for the disorder, but they are most effective in people who participate in a Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.
All medications and counseling services are tailor to the patient’s needs and preferences.

Peer Services
Through the NYS Office of Addiction Supports and Services (OASAS) and the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH), we provide peer services which are non-clinical support services provided by individuals who have lived experience related to substance use and/or mental illness. Our peers help others who are in similar situations to achieve their recovery goals. Peer services can include outreach, engagement, advocacy, coaching, mentoring, recovery planning, and linkage to community resources. Peer services are delivered by Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs) or CRPA-Provisionals (CRPA-Ps) who have completed training and certification requirements by the New York Certification Board. Our peer services are integrated into our various OASAS and OMH certified programs, such as outpatient and residential treatment. These services are person-centered, strength-based, relationship-oriented, and recovery-focused. They aim to improve the health, wellness, and quality of life of individuals and families living with substance use or mental illness.
